Kate became a Barrister sole in 1990 and was admitted as a barrister in New Zealand, England and Wales. Kate became a QC in 2013, and in the same year was New Zealand Lawyer's Barrister of the year.
Along with Bankside Chambers she has chambers in the UK at Outer Temple Chambers, 222 The Strand, London. In 2019 Kate was appointed an Ordinary Bencher of the Middle Temple, where she is known as Master Davenport.
Kate practices in the area of Civil and Commercial litigation with special interest in Trust Law (is a contributing editor to LexisNexis Law of Trust), Contract and Tort Claims, Professional Regulation, Estate Litigation and Land Law.
Kate is an active member of the New Zealand Bar, is Past President of the NZ Bar Association and has been Vice President of the New Zealand Law Society and President of the Medico Legal Society.
In her minimal spare time, she has a husband, 4 children and a grandson. Kate loves to collect estate jewellery, renovate houses and offices and read.
